Arab Tunisian Bank (ATB), a Tunisian commercial bank, was created on June 30, 1982 by the integration of a branch of the Arab Bank Tunis with Tunisian individuals. Its mission was contribution to the economic and financial development of the country. Tunisia’s first President, Habib Bourguiba, was helped by Abdul Hameed Shoman, the founder of the Arab Bank Group in his combat against French colonization. In 1952, Bourguiba permitted Shoman to open an Arab bank branch in Tunisia, as Arab Bank-Tunis. In 1982, Arab Bank changed to Arab Tunisian Bank. In 2008, the General Assembly decided to grow the bank capital from 60 million dinars to 100 million dinars within two years. The Industries Mécaniques Maghrébines S.A. (IMM) are a Tunisian car manufacturer headquartered in the city of Kairouan. The company was founded in 1982 and closed for the first time in 1988; the plant was reopened in 1991. Since then, the manufacturer has formed subsidiaries to distribute its vehicles in Carthage, Tunis and Oued Smar, Algeria. The company is a joint-venture between the General Motors Company (20 per cent), Isuzu Motors Ltd. (10 per cent) and the locomotive builder General Motors du Tunisie S.A. (70 per cent).[6] The latter provides the staff for the company. In January 2008, it was announced that the Algerian subsidiary will be converted for the assembly of vehicles.
