Overview Analysis of the demand for plastic house ware in Malawi and neighbouring countries combined with research into plastic injection moulding technology led to the creation of Arkay Plastics Industry in Malawi. We were incorporated in 1997, and began production with only four injection moulding machines and a staff of 30. We began by processing a ton of material per day. Our first range of products – a container set, shopping basket and two large basins were an innovation and took the market by storm. Aggressive marketing and continuous investment into machinery led to our growth in Malawi. Our policy of maintaining high quality standards and dynamism in operations has led to increased demand of our products in neighbouring countries. By the new millennium, we had several machines and a wide variety of products catering to a diverse range of consumers. Investment was also made into a new factory and with this our foray into much larger machinery and plant to manufacture chairs and large drums. Demand for our brand has led to the establishment of factories in Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Today we employ more than 1,000 people directly in 4 countries, and process more than 10,000 tons of material […]

In July 1994, after the government had studied the problems inherent in the delivery of tertiary education in the country, the former President of The Republic of Malawi, His Excellency Dr. Bakili Muluzi, decided that a new University should be established and that it should be located in the Northern Region. Thereafter, the President appointed the Commission for the Establishment of the University in the North (COMESUN) and directed the commissioners to gather the opinions of a cross-section of the Malawian population in the three regions on the feasibility, practicality and viability of establishing such an institution. The commission heard views from politicians, traditional and religious leaders, academicians, professional experts, government officials and the ordinary people in the rural areas. The commissioners recommended that in order for the university to open quickly, the existing Mzuzu Teachers’ Training College (MTTC) should be rehabilitated and upgraded to house the University. The Commissioners presented the COMESUN Report and its recommendations to former President Muluzi at the beginning of September 1995. Having accepted the report in its entirety, the President appointed a Working Committee on Mzuzu University (WOCOMU) on 18th September, 1995 and instructed it to implement the recommendations contained in the COMESUN report. Our History THE BEGINNING OF ASSEMBLIES OF GOD On July 4, 1947, a contingent of four Missionary units of Assemblies of God arrived at Chimbewa Village in Ntcheu. The missionaries included Paul Derr, Ragnar Udds, Morris Williams and Magnus Udds from Tanganyika, while Fredrick Burke, Paul Wright, and Moody Wright came from South Africa. The Assemblies of God Missionaries discussed with Laiton Kalambule that the “Full Gospel Church should become affiliated with the General Council of the Assemblies of God in United States of America. The Malawi Police Service Website has been developed in response to the growing demand by the general public to seek information from the Service. It is hoped that this will create a forum where members of the community within the country and even outside will have a chance of reporting any cases to do with their safety and security. This will, in the process, lead to effecting arrests of crime perpetrators. It is also a forum where Police will be accountable to members of the society on how it is performing its duties. People will be able to contribute on how best they want their Police to deliver its services. The website is a means of tip anonymous of any crime and criminology that you see happening in your localities. This website strives to bridge the gap between the Malawi Police Service and the community we serve. It is an information piece that presents safety and security events in terms of criminals who have been nabbed and major community and Police activities that have taken place. It is a forum which gives crime prevention tips to the general public and further gives a feed forward to how community members together […]
