The particular location of Mindelo allows you to choose every day the best spots, such as North Mindelo, San Pedro, San Antao, Sao Nicolau, North West Bank, according to the migration of fish and sea conditions. The boarding is carried out from the jetty of the Sport Fishing Club in Mindelo bay, adjacent to the entrance of the commercial port and easily accessible on foot from the accommodations we propose. The trips “Big Game Blue Marlin” starting from March until October are only full day and last for 8/10 hours depending on the chosen spot and includes lunch on board with sandwiches, fruit and drinks. The first airport on Sal Island was built in 1939 by Italy, as a fuel and provisions stopping-point on routes from Rome to South America. One of the airport’s architects for the terminal and its facilities was engineer Raul Pires Ferreira Chaves who was Public Works for Cape Verde. After surveys were made, the airport would be built in a relatively flat area and distant from the streams and located in a range between Monte Leão to the west and Serra Negra as well as Monte Grande with the closest hill being Monte Curral (located northeast) and Morro Curral. The runway would run north-south with the airline routes running over Terra Boa and between Montes Leste and Grande and west of Santa Maria and the southernmost area of Sal. Also it included a road between Palmeira, Morro Curral, the terminal and Santa Maria in the south of the island, that is now the EN1-SL01. The first flight, an arrival from Rome and Seville, was on 15 December 1939. Not longer after in 1940, the project was stopped due to Italy’s involvement in World War II. The University of Cape Verde (Uni-CV) is a higher education institution in Cape Verde. It is the only public institution with the character of university in the country, being therefore reference for the Cape Verdean superior education. On November 20, 2006, the Council of Ministers created, through Decree-Law 53/2006, the University of Cape Verde, first integrating ISE, located in Praia, and ISECMAR, located in Mindelo. In 2007, a third school officially joined the university: the National Institute of Agrarian Research and Development (INIDA), located in São Jorge dos Órgãos. In the first years of existence, the Uni-CV counted on the strong support of Brazilian universities in teacher training and the exchange of administrative experiences. The institutions remained units associated to the Uni-CV, with a specific juridical design in the first two years of operation of the university. Therefore, through Decree-Law no. 29/2008 of 9 October, ISE, ISECMAR and INAG were extinguished, and its structure was fully integrated into the Uni-CV.
