Present with its brands on five continents, the Castel Group is today a major international player in the fields of export, production, bottling and marketing of beverages. In Gabon, the Castel Group represents 22 brands for nearly 93 references, produced locally by its three main companies: the Société des brasseries du Gabon (Sobraga), the Société des Vins du Gabon (Sovingab), and the Société des boissons de Léconi (Soboleco). Sobraga produces internationally renowned beverages: Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Schweppes, Orangina, Guinness; and group-specific drinks, which have become benchmarks on the African market, including Castel Beer, 33 ‘Export, Beaufort, D’Jino and Régab.
Since its creation in 1966 under the impetus of Pierre Castel and the Gabonese government, Sobraga is a major player in the socio-economic life of the country. Thanks to a committed policy of industrial development, Sobraga now has five production sites spread throughout the national territory (see map), and ranks eighth among national economic players in all sectors.
In 1987, the Libreville factory was relocated in the town of Owendo about twenty kilometers from Libreville, then other factories were born, notably that of Franceville 1971, Port-Gentil in 1972, Oyem in 1976 and Mouila in 1983
In 2009, the factories of Brasseries of Gabon (Libreville, Port-Gentil, Franceville, Oyem, Mouila) as well as SOVINGAB and SBS (Sobraga Business Services) obtain the ISO 9001: 2008 certification for all the processes. The 2015 audit confirmed certification at all production sites in Gabon.
The Sobraga generates nearly 1,500 direct jobs, and tens of thousands of indirect jobs throughout Gabon through the network of wholesalers, depots, pubs, etc.
