Airport Security
Your safety and security is a priority for the Somali Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority. When travelling by plane you will be required to go through Passenger Security Screening for a security check. This security check is related to what you are allowed to take with you on board an aircraft. This is to ensure that you are not carrying any potentially dangerous substances or items that could pose a risk to the passengers and crew or to the security and safety of the aircraft.
Passengers are advised to carry just ONE piece of hand luggage. Sharp objects should be removed from carry-on luggage and placed in checked-in luggage.
Before departing for the Airport, please check your flight is on time and confirm what time your airline requires you to check in. Mogadishu Aden Adde International Airport recommends you arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before your scheduled flight departs.

Top Tips
Check-in
There is only one Terminal at Mogadishu Aden Adde International Airport – Terminal 1. The Departure and arrival levels are located next to each other
Check-in times
As a general guide:
- The Mogadishu Aden Adde International Airport would advise passengers to arrive at check-in at least 2 hours prior to their flight departure
- Long-haul flights check-in can open up to three hours prior to scheduled departure.
Self-Service and Online Check-in
Self-service check-in (online and self-service kiosks) is not available yet to passengers of Mogadishu Aden Adde International Airport.
Passports & Visas
If you are travelling internationally, a valid passport is normally required. For some countries, your passport will need to be valid for at least six months after your intended return and you may also need a visa.
Photocopies of Important Documents
Have photocopies of all important documents (tickets, passport, visas,riving licence etc..) and make sure they are kept separate from the originals. If there are two or more people in your party you could exchange photocopies to minimise
Foreign Currency
Whilst most places accept credit and debit cards, cash is still the best way to pay for small items like taxis, snacks and tips. There are no ATM machines at the airport.
Health and medical
If you are in any doubt about travelling with an illness or medical condition you should consult your doctor. If you are on prescribed medication take enough with you for the duration of your trip.
