Benjamin A. Okonofua is a Nigeria-born sociologist, researcher, author, entrepreneur, and Africanist. He developed his sociology in multiple arenas, but mostly through his lived experience in three continents: Africa, Europe, and America. Growing up in culturally and ethnically diverse Nigeria, especially a country emerging from a devastating civil war that produced 1-3 million deaths and contending with the twin challenges of post-war state building and the parallel development of a corrupt local political elite, afforded him the opportunity to understand the bases of order in society. He has advised the U.S. Army and some of its combatant commands on the African human domain. He is also a consultant to several U.S. defense contractors and an editorial board member to several peer review journals, including Sage.
